### Un Mundo abierto, vivo y bien diseñado | An open, lively and well-designed world

I think I have a huge weakness for open world games, those where you have the freedom to explore, discover new things and immerse yourself in a different universe; this grew in me thanks to video games like The Legend of Zelda Ocarine of Time, one of the games that along with Final Fantasy VII marked my childhood. My dream game would be an open world game, if possible set in a fantasy and adventure world like the books that I like so much although this does not have to be a strict requirement because I also feel very attracted to post-apocalyptic worlds like Fallout or The last to us; my most usual example is usually the world of Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, a game that to this day I still play and does not stop surprising me with its details and its world and this is the next point. https://i.pinimg.com/564x/85/dd/51/85dd515007e1e0037d3ba6c5fc6248dd.jpg _{[fuente/source](https://www.elektra.com.mx/videojuegos/nintendo-switch)} A huge world is nothing without its details, details that complement the story of the game and the "lore" of the universe, I think Skyrim is usually my example because wherever I go there are always hidden stories, I'm not talking about side quests, but things that are there that are part of its universe, things that tell you something happened here. Speaking of occurrences... A living world, a world that is affected in some way or another by the decisions we make, many games promise this, including Skyrim itself but unfortunately there are few that fulfill it; Elder Scrolls games are my favorite but they are far from perfect... https://i.pinimg.com/564x/59/7d/84/597d849bfbe8492eee32944b28ec632a.jpg _{[fuente/source](https://www.pinterest.es/pin/9710955436994282/)} A game in which our decisions affect the environment although in a very subtle way is in my opinion; Dark Souls, specifically the first game, depending on what pact you make, which character you get in this or that moment, depending on the decisions and routes we take and when we take them, the interaction and actions of many characters for us will change radically; some will even want to kill us and a few others will harm or change our own environment and I would like my perfect video game to have these characteristics.

## Una buena historia, personajes entrañables | A good story, endearing characters

The story for me is an extremely important point, if the game doesn't have a story that is moderately interesting (for me) this usually turns me away from it. There are games with stories that are not so complex and even sin of simple (Skyrim) although the world and its details can make this section more enjoyable. I return again with Dark Souls, which for me is a game that has a fascinating and mysterious story, I do not want to make spoilers but I want to talk about the virtues of his story. The story of the game is not told in a conventional way, it is a story that is printed in your world, you are not told directly, but the introduction, we are a pawn of thousands who for many years have tried and failed to immolate or extinguish the primal flame to end an era of chaos in the world. That is all we know and it is up to us and our ability to explore and observe to discover the details of this story. Other somewhat "simpler" but incredibly epic stories can be found in Zelda games; such as Ocarine of Time, Breath of The Wild and even Twilight Princess; stories somewhat less complex and somewhat Manichean, but well constructed and with many details scattered around them that you will only discover if you immerse yourself in their world. https://img.ifunny.co/images/92d8a84444cbb513a0a121bcc0c1e08c0ebd3d5a89319f5beb0a66b39cb3166a_1.jpg _{[fuente/source](https://ifunny.co/meme/praise-the-sun-jIdzcdV57?utm_source=pn&utm_medium=leonorpomeroy&utm_campaign=778137710556032283&pid=pn)} It should be noted that a complex story is not synonymous with a great story, not even a good one, from my point of view this is not what makes a story interesting, but the details of it. A game with a simple story, full of details both in it and in its world are specifically those of Fallout 1,2 and 3 and The Last to Us games both the first and the second (I know what some people think and I understand them, it is not perfect but it is not the disaster they claim). The story is made by its characters, characters that make us love them, that make us hate them, that make us feel part of the experience, Dark Souls for me achieves this very well with characters like Solaire or Siegmeyer of Catarina, The Last to Us whose characters are very complete and Final Fantasy VII or Metal Gear Solid (these last two games made me understand the importance of well-constructed characters). https://i.pinimg.com/564x/df/10/ae/df10ae8ef8e058e5a4aae13e99510bea.jpg _{[fuente/source](https://www.pinterest.es/pin/161566705367336606/)} If the characters do not interest us, we will consequently lose interest in the story and we would only be playing for the sake of playing, playing by inertia, we would not be living the moment and that for me is not enjoying the videogame.

this is a particularly large and cumbersome section to cover but I will mention the ones that I consider most important for me; especially in games with the themes I enjoy the most, adventure, open world and some crafting and survival. It's great when a game allows you to craft; be it weapons, armor, costumes, houses etc this to me is something that well used enriches the game, however there must be a reason for it. Many games make the mistake of having an extensive crafting and creation system that in the long run becomes useless because you don't really need it, an unfortunate example for me is Fallout 4 whose crafting and creation system is grossly varied but not very useful and practical in some cases, which is why perhaps the survival mode where hunger, the thirst , the cold and diseases influence and give rise to really need to carry many provisions in your adventure. The survival system for me is a very cool detail, it is not necessarily something indispensable but there are games that could have used something similar, an example for me is Skyrim who I feel would have been great with a survival system, this can be solved with mods like Frosfall or I Need among many others but I think without a doubt that my ideal game would have these two systems incorporated. https://repacklab.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Valheim-Free-Download-Repacklab-4.jpg _{[fuente/source](https://repacklab.com/valheim-free-download/)} The reason is very simple, they are systems that work very well together and although many developers forget it; one cannot function in a totally credible way without the other. They don't have to be extremely compatible, just complementary, I think games like Red Dead Redemption 2 understood this section well, the level of detail it has is impressive to the point that it seems more like a simulation than a game. Another extremely important section in this kind of games is the combat, combat is paramount, a good combat system that is fast and entertaining is ideal for my dream game, an example for me already repeated would be the combat system of Dark Souls in which you need to know how your opponent moves and look for the time to attack and get out unharmed. https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/thewitcher/images/a/af/Novel_cover_the_witcher_vol_4_by_xiling-dacj53p.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/699?cb=20160831203005&path-prefix=pt-br _{[fuente/source](https://thewitcher.fandom.com/pt-br/wiki/Tempo_do_Desprezo)} I think these would be the fundamental pillars of a perfect game; another section that I would add would be the balance of the enemies and their difficulty, I do not ask for an extremely difficult game but fair, this is where Dark Souls and Skyrim (sometimes not always) win points for me; years ago I played The Witcher 3, impressive game but there was something that disappointed me a lot, it bothered me the idea that in certain regions a giant wyvern with huge claws and teeth that can fly was a fairly easy task, but if I left the area to a not indicated for my level a simple dwarf bandit was able to blow me up. https://i.pinimg.com/564x/1c/b0/be/1cb0beeaf8fedcad9fb7e9f7c58da7ba.jpg _{[fuente/source](https://www.pinterest.es/pin/844493669256572/)} This small issue completely takes me out of the experience, the games where the "levels" influence too much in the performance of your character sometimes I consider them a bit extreme, and illogical, a dragon is dangerous not for being level 10, a dragon is dangerous because it's a fucking dragon, in Dark Souls enemies are dangerous because they look like that, a giant with a hammer will be a giant with a hammer and a skeleton with a broken sword will represent that, to put it in context it's like when in Age of Empires you could take down a fortress with enough archers Logical? not at all.

## Gráficos y calidad visual | Graphics and visual quality

Nunca he sido muy exigente con el apartado grafico de los videojuegos, no pido que se vean realistas y de todas formas muchos juegos mejoran y se ven visualmente encantadores con una buena saturación, una buena pero no muy compleja iluminación o sombreado (si lo necesita) aunque hay juegos que visualmente impresionan, he visto personas que han modificado juegos antiguos y los hacen parecer juegos de este año y los resultados son impresionantes. No pido mucho en este aspecto, solo que se vea bien y acorde... hay otro apartado que me interesa mucho más que los gráficos en sí aunque también pertenece a su vez a la parte gráfica y son las físicas, las físicas en los juegos son algo que me fascina, como el poder destruir escenarios e interactuar con el entorno, al estilo de los títulos de Battlefield desde el 3 en adelante o Red Faction, sin duda este tipo de interacción con los escenarios trae al gameplay un sin fin de posibilidades, de hecho Zelda Breath of the Wild lo demostró con creces dando a los jugadores la posibilidad de resolver los acertijos y las mazmorras de maneras increíblemente ingeniosas utilizando el entorno a su favor. https://magazine.artstation.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/marthe-jonkers-lorebook-kendach1a-e1611080284771.jpg _{[fuente/source](https://magazine.artstation.com/2021/01/cd-projekt-red-cyberpunk-2077art-blast/)}

I have never been very demanding with the graphics of video games, I don't ask that they look realistic and anyway many games improve and look visually charming with a good saturation, a good but not very complex lighting or overcoating (if you need it) although there are games that visually impress, I have seen people who have modified old games and make them look like games of this year and the results are impressive. http://www.skyrim-beautification-project.com/se/gallery/448/Skyrim-Beautification-Project-448-Screenshot-004.jpg _{[fuente/source](http://www.skyrim-beautification-project.com/se/)} I don't ask for much in this aspect, just that it looks good and neat ... there is another section that interests me much more than the graphics itself but also belongs in turn to the graphics and are the physics, physics in games are something that fascinates me, like being able to destroy scenarios and interact with the environment, in the style of Battlefield titles from 3 onwards or Red Faction, without a doubt this kind of interaction with the scenery brings endless possibilities to the gameplay, in fact Zelda Breath of the Wild proved it by giving players the possibility to solve puzzles and dungeons in incredibly ingenious ways using the environment to their advantage.

## Una increíble banda sonora para recordar | A great soundtrack to remember

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFv_CDJ-XBo

Music is something intimate and very significant in video games, we can even recognize many games just by their music; the themes that most catch my attention in many occasions are those unique themes in battles against final bosses like the battle against Sephirot with that theme of One-Winged Angel by Nobuo Uematsu or the theme of the battle against King Gwyn of the ashes of Motoi Sakuraba, the music of the fights against the dragons in Skyrim. The atmospheric music that starts playing when we are walking or exploring, like the one found in Twilight Princess, in Skyrim itself or in Dragon Age.... This is the kind of music I would like for my game, by the hand of a composer specialized in this kind of music, maybe Hanz Zimmer, John Williams or the great Howard Shore; the three have made legendary soundtracks like Interstellar, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, it would be amazing to have a videogame composed with the music of these greats.

### Quizás estoy pidiendo demasiadas cosas | Maybe I'm asking for too many things

Quizás hacer el juego de mi sueños a día de hoy sea una tarea titánica, quizás imposible... aunque uno nunca sabe, el mundo del desarrollo del video juego es más oscuro de lo que mucha gente piensa, la gran mayoría de juegos no fracasan porque sus desarrolladores sean mediocres (que hay casos donde sí) o por falta de presupuesto, a veces son otras cosas, el desgaste laboral, la presión incesante de las compañías por cumplir los plazos de entrega, las exageradas promesas de los jefes de desarrollo, la caída y recompra de estudios y los sueldos que sus trabajadores perciben... y que es más fácil hacer un título sencillo (Fornite) y explotar la ludopatía de tus usuarios con skins, actualizaciones de temporada y otras coas (Fornite) para ganar mucho más haciendo muy poco. El mundo del videojuego es un paraiso lleno de rincones oscuros y tristes hacia donde no queremos mirar; sin embargo, a pesar de que el juego de mis sueños no existe o aun no lo conozco; hay juegos increíbles que han llenado ese espacio y me han hecho sentir que un juego como el que anhelo es posible en algún momento. - **Dark Souls (1 y 3 el segundo no llegué a jugarlo)** - **The Elder Scrolls (Skyrim, Oblivion y Morrowind)** - **Dragon age Origins** - **The Legend Of Zelda (Ocarine of Time, Breath of The Wild y Twilight Princess** - **Fallout (1, 2 y 3)** - **The last to Us (Ammbos titulos)** - **Final Fantasy (VI y VII)** Y muchos otros más que seguramente me estoy dejando de lado... https://i.pinimg.com/564x/4e/c0/f1/4ec0f1a52ef929c073ca1c869d3fa9ec.jpg _{[fuente/source](https://www.pinterest.es/pin/1266706134363501/)}

Maybe making the game of my dreams today is a titanic task, maybe impossible? although you never know, the world of video game development is darker than many people think, the vast majority of games do not fail because their developers are mediocre (there are cases where if) or lack of budget, sometimes are other things, the wear and tear, the insistent pressure of the companies to meet deadlines, the exaggerated promises of the heads of development, the fall and repurchase of studies and salaries that their workers perceive. ... and that it is easier to make a simple title (Fornite) and exploit the compulsive gambling of your users with skins, seasonal updates and other things (Fornite) to earn much more by doing very little. https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/025/055/339/large/rachid-lotf-consoles-controllers.jpg?1584454071 _{[fuente/source](https://www.artstation.com/artwork/VdmyyP) de [Rachid Lotf](https://www.artstation.com/rachidlotf)} The video game world is a paradise full of dark and sad corners where we don't want to look; however even though the game of my dreams doesn't exist or I still don't know it; there are incredible games that have filled that space and made me feel that a game like the one I long for is possible at some point. - **Dark Souls (1 and 3 the second one I didn't get to play it)** - **The Elder Scrolls (Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind)** - **Dragon Age Origins** - **The Legend Of Zelda (Ocarine of Time, Breath of The Wild y Twilight Princess** - **Fallout (1, 2 and 3)** - **The last to Us (Both titles)** - **Final Fantasy (VI and VII)** And many others that I'm probably leaving out...

## Mención especial para un juego inusual | Special mention for an unusual game

Finally I would like to mention and recommend an incredibly complete game, it may not be the best game but I was amazed by the great diversification of sections that this game has, it is a game of exploration, open world, strategy and survival set in a decadent and inhospitable wasteland. https://i.pinimg.com/564x/85/cc/85/85cc85ae39a801651347395bb2d6027f.jpg _{[fuente/source](https://www.pinterest.es/pin/88172105195764740/)} You have the option to start as an adventurer, a slave in a mine, you can have, create, customize and control your own group of adventurers, you can take, manage and control a city, its interface leaves much to be desired and its graphics may not be the best but it is certainly an amazing game and I think it is the closest to everything that would encompass in a very general way my ideal game.

# Así sería mi videojuego ideal | This would be my ideal videogame

Without more to say; I think this would be my perfect fire with a great story in an open world (preferably fantasy) full of possibilities. A system of survival, creation and collection of objects and materials well elaborated and perfectly complementary to each other. Fast but strategic combat with a reasonable difficulty and a story that manages to captivate... Great and beautiful graphics although not necessarily something of last generation, but if incredible physics that allow you a more intimate interaction with the environment and finally an epic soundtrack, which gives personality and life to the game, that makes you remember it every time you think of any of its melodies. I hope you found this interesting reading traveler, see you soon in a new adventure.
